On Minami Minegishi and the Idol Industry

Chokubo is a blog dedicated to a Japanese idol, one by the name of Haruna Iikubo of Morning Musume. Like most idol fans in the west, I’m female, though I’m a bit older than the average as I’ve been following Morning Musume for 10 years. I’m also a fan of Berryz Koubou, C-ute, and the newish idol group BiS (They dance around in blood and its fantastic, they need more fans) and I would say I’m a casual fan of AKB48 (My favorite member is Minami Takahashi). My idol fandom is vast, I spend at least 3000$ a year on merchandise and CDs. I am what they would call a “Wota” — though personally I don’t like the term. 

The scandal with Minami Minegishi (From here on out, referred to as “Miichan”) has put the idol industry under the international spotlight, and maybe rightfully so. So I thought I would say a few words on it, being a long time fan of idols myself.
